Instruction Sessions

If you are creating an assignment that will involve bibliographic research, you might consider making use of our library instruction program. Librarians are available to give a presentation, tailored to be reflective of your assignment, on how to use the library's resources. You can either bring your students to the library classroom or have the librarian come to your class. We will need at least a week to prepare. To request a library instruction session, contact your subject librarian.

Research Consultation Program

Our librarians provide free in-depth consultations for your students and advisees. These consultations will help them:

  •     Develop a search strategy.
  •     Find a topic for their research assignment.
  •     Select appropriate electronic resources and reference materials.

The reference librarian will not:

  •     Search the literature for them.
  •     Write the paper for them.

We've had a lot of positive feedback from students and faculty regarding the effectiveness of this program. If you think some guidance would be helpful in performing a literature review for an assignment or research project, direct your students toward the sign-up form and we'll be glad to help them.

Reference Service

Librarians are here to help you with any questions or problems you or your students might have. General questions can be directed to library@mst.edu, or you may email the liaison librarian for your department directly for more in-depth inquiries. Liaison information is available through the library's departmental subject guides; a list is also available under "Information for Faculty" on the library homepage.
