Student Employment at the Library: Home


We are NOT Accepting Applications at this Time


 

Thank you for your interest in applying for employment at the library. The library can offer students a broad range of employment opportunities including:

  • Working at our service desk assisting other students, faculty and staff.
  • Assisting in the processing of books and other materials.
  • Digitizing information for access on the internet and via Interlibrary Loan.
  • Various other office tasks and projects.

To apply for a position at the library, you will need to follow the 4 steps outlined below. Once we receive your application it will be reviewed and if we think you qualify for employment we will contact you within 4-6 weeks to arrange for an interview.

Please note: Confirmation of the receipt of your application will be displayed after you click submit. You will not receive any additional confirmation. Please allow two weeks for processing. 

Please Note:

  • We will keep applications active for one semester. It is not necessary for you to apply more than once in any given semester.
  • Please avoid contacting or emailing us about employment, it only slows the process.
  • Completing an application is not a guarantee of employment, you must receive and accept a job offer. 
  • The hourly wage starts at $10.30. An additional amount may be offered depending on job requirements and your experience level. 
  • Your performance will be periodically evaluated.

To work at the library as a student employee you must:

  1. be enrolled in classes during the semester you plan to work. During the summer semester your must either be enrolled in summer classes or in fall classes.
  2. complete all required forms and documents and have a valid social security card.  If you do not have your social security card, you will need to visit the International Affairs office. They will provide a letter stating you will be working on campus. You will present the letter along with the other required documentation to the Social Security Office.
  3. accept the job if offered and wait to be notified that you have been hired.

If you currently hold another job on campus you must be willing to either:

  1. leave that job, or
  2. work in the library concurrently with your existing job with the understanding that the combined standard hours for all concurrent jobs can not exceed 20 hours per week.

Step 2: Complete and Submit the University of Missouri Application for Student Employment

The application is a fillable PDF which can be downloaded below. To complete the application please do the following:

  1. Download the application using the link below.
  2. Complete and sign the application.
    1. Using Adobe Reader, Adobe Acrobat, or other software complete the application and sign it.
    2. Save the completed and signed application as a PDF file.
    3. You will be given the option to upload this application when you complete step 4 below.

If you do not have access to the necessary software, please visit the library computer lab.

Step 3: Complete and Sign the Training Acknowledgement Form

The form is a fillable PDF which can be downloaded below. To complete the form please do the following.

  1. Download the form using the link below.
  2. Complete and sign the form.
    1. Using Adobe Reader, Adobe Acrobat, or other software complete the form and sign it.
    2. Save the completed and signed form as a PDF file.
    3. You will be given the option to upload this form when you complete step 4 below.

If you do not have access to the necessary software, please visit the library computer lab.

Step 4: Complete and Submit the Library Supplemental Student Employment Application

This application is an online form which when completed is automatically processed. Please have the following information ready before you complete this form.

Required - A copy of your current class schedule. (A screen capture or export from the scheduling system)

Required - A completed and signed copy of the University of Missouri Application for student employment from step 2 above

Required - A completed and signed copy of the Training Acknowledgement Form from step 3 above

Not Required - Although not required, you may wish to add a copy of your current resume
