Explanation of the circulation services available in the library.

Borrowing Materials

Our local library collection exceed over 450,000 print and electronic items available for you use. This includes books, journals, film, audio, microfilm and much more. Additionally, you have access to the collection of all the University of Missouri Libraries and through Interlibrary loan materials 1,000's of other libraries. 

We also have available for checkout the latest in technological recourses, including laptops, chargers, cameras, and lots of cool gadgets to support your study, creativity, and leisure activities.  

University Student, Faculty, and Staff

All students, faculty, and staff may borrow materials using their university provided identification card.

Missouri Residents

The Library offers guest accounts to Missouri residents who wish to use the library's collections. The requirements to obtain a quest account are:

  • A current form of photo identification such as a Drivers License, Passport, or Military Identification.
  • Proof of Missouri residency such as a utility bill or other official mail containing your Missouri address and postmarked within the last 3 months. Persons with a current Military Identification do not have to provide proof of Missouri residency.
  • 18 years of age or older. Persons under 18 must have their parent or guardian sign the application form. 

Please bring the requested documents to the library service desk to be processed. Guest accounts are valid for 1 year. To be eligible for a renewal, accounts must have no outstanding fines or fees. To renew, please bring a current form of identification and proof of Missouri residency to the Library service desk for processing. 

Certain restrictions apply to guests accounts:

  • Guests may not use library's electronic resources which are licensed for use by only students, faculty, and staff of the University.
  • Guest patrons must also register at the service desk each time they wish access to to public use computers.

Recalls: If an item is needed for course reserves or other reason, it may be recalled.  If an item is recalled, the due date will be shortened and a notice will be sent to the patron that currently has this item checked out.  Recalls generate fines of $1.00 per day if items are returned after the adjusted recall due date.

1 If you need an item longer, come to the library up to two hours before the library closes and you can check the item out until the next morning with a due date of one hour after the library opens for the day.
